Love Stories

Today I'm debuting a new feature on this blog - customer-submitted stories about their relationships and/or weddings, complete with photos and ring details. Enjoy! And thanks to Maranda and Per for being my trailblazing first couple!

Maranda and Per

"We met 16 years ago in Memphis, TN on my 15th birthday. Per came over with a friend of his, which was my cousin, just for a summer visit. We fell in love and married two years later. We were very young and as many young marriages do, ours ended after three years, reluctantly. Last year, we were both in a place in our lives that enabled us to see each other again for the first time in ten years. Turns out all those years apart, we were both miserable for one another, we both thought of one another every single day. In May of 2009 we met under the clock in Victoria Station in London. The heavy feeling we both had for years, since our parting, was immediately gone. In that instant, we knew we could never live without one another again. We will marry in the US this year and have a formal wedding in Norway next August...on August the 8th! We are true, honest to goodness, soul mates."

Chicken Update

I have been terribly remiss in posting chicken photographs lately. I finally got my butt in gear today and snapped some pics because I am excited to share how well our newest hens are doing. Check out these 'before' pics - and just look at them now!








Their tail feathers still have just a bit of growing in to do, but they look so much plumper and smoother than they did two months ago. It's amazing what some good grass and freedom from horrific confinement will do for a lovely feathered lady!

Here's a custom wedding band I just made - I thought the bride and groom had a sweet idea - they had me place their own birthstones, as well as their daughter's, equidistant around the band, along with a bunch of moissanites.

Here's the side with the pink sapphire (Chatham lab-created)...

...the emerald (also Chatham lab-created)...

...and finally the alexandrite (also Chatham lab-created). Cute, huh? :-)

This is another custom set - a fair trade Malawi sapphire with two fair trade black spinels; the bezel is 14k white gold and the bands are palladium sterling silver (all recycled of course).

These were made in a no-spin shape at the customer's request.

Next up, a lovely 5.5mm moissanite in a recycled 14k white gold bezel on a recycled palladium sterling silver band, along with a matching wedding band studded with tiny moissanites and sapphires.

Another custom order - yellow sapphire, emerald, and blue sapphire wedding band in palladium sterling silver.

A tiny (3mm) fair trade sapphire on a delicate recycled 14k white gold band (also a custom order).

And another simple/colorful custom wedding band - this time recycled palladium sterling silver with fair trade amethyst and peridot.

And finally, a lovely Oregon sunstone set in polished 14k yellow gold on a hand-textured 14k white gold band.

Whew! On to the next batch...
