New Work

The other day I got a bee in my bonnet about trying some really simple ring designs that would simply and elegantly showcase the various kinds of gold I work with. Here's what I came up with -

stacking rings
I think they look pretty cool all stacked up together, but here are some photos of each individually as well (click the links for more pics) -

green gold ringOregon sunstone and recycled 14k green gold ring, size 6
(This is the first time I've worked with green gold - I think it's pretty cool!)

And here's a photo of the gold only -

Boy, I've been boring lately... all I've posted in ages is jewelry stuff. I guess it's obvious that I've been working hard and not playing much. :-) Vacation coming up soon though, thank goodness!

A Birthstone Pendant for Me

For the last couple of months, I've been wanting to make a set of five stacking rings for myself to symbolize the connections that our family has with Carlos' birthmother and foster family. Well, I finally realized that five rings is more than my little sausage finger can support without looking pretty ridiculous, and decided to make a pendant instead.

birthstone jewelry
Each stone symbolizes a member of our family of adoption; from top to bottom - aquamarine (Carlos' foster mother's birthstone), citrine (an alternate birthstone for November, for Carlos' birthmother's birthday), peridot (Matt's birthstone), and two shades of pink tourmaline (both mine and Carlos' birthstone).

adoption jewelry
I've ordered a thick snake chain to wear it on - I can't wait until it gets here. These colors are perfect for summer and I'm really looking forward to wearing this symbol of our family.

Just a quickie post...

... to let you all know I've restocked these beads, which sold out quickly the last time I carried them.

Oh, and one more new ring, with more hopefully to follow in the next day or so...

Labradorite & sterling silver ring, size 8.5-ish, satin finish

Aren't you proud of me? I even got them all listed already!!!

Beady Goodness

After several months of having little interest in working with beads (preferring instead to play in my new metal workshop), I suddenly felt inspired over the last few days. Here's what I made...

Triple strand iolite necklace with lapis lazuli pendant

Tundra garnet necklace with tourmaline and smoky quartz centerpiece

...and another view of the same (sorry for the blurriness; I need to re-photograph this one; I'm not doing it justice here).

Multicolored sapphire necklace with shaded citrine pendant

Chunky tourmaline nugget bracelet

Cloudy aquamarine and sterling silver dangly earrings

'Shades of Grey' Swarovski simulated pearl and sterling silver earrings

Chrysoprase and antiqued sterling silver necklace (including my first time making my own headpins)

...and another view of the same, although the chrysoprase pendant didn't photograph too well.
