This is a pretty simple design, but one that's been bouncing around in my head for a while. At first the whole ring was 14k gold, but the more I looked at it, the more compelled I felt to make it look more organic and antique, so ultimately I decided to melt some sterling silver solder all around and in between the bezels, which I then oxidized to give the piece a blackened, 'ancient' kind of feel. I'm not completely sure how I feel about the finished effect; I'm curious to hear what you all think... does the oxidized silver add or detract from this design?

First off, a ginormous (8mm) deep red Oregon sunstone ring.
This gorgeous stone is set in white gold. Size 6.

And here, I've tried something new for a custom order; in order for this narrow-banded engagement ring to sit flush on the floral wedding band, I notched the wedding band. I think it turned out rather nice...

I'm going to add a couple of little flush-set moissanites to the band soon.

On to another something new...

My first attempt at a handmade prong setting. :-)

I'm not 100% in love with it... especially this first attempt, since my prongs are not quite uniformly sized, but it was fun to try something new.

This next one is very exciting (to me at least!) - I've been wanting to attempt a hand-fabricated three-stone ring for ages but I kept thinking it would be too hard. Well, I finally got over it and tried, and it wasn't nearly as bad as I feared... it did present some new technical challenges, but overall I'm really pleased with how it turned out, and I can't wait to try another (next up is three moissanites set in white gold).
