Carlos has reached the age where he can actually focus his attention long enough to do some fun little art projects. A recent favorite has been rock painting (he paints them with poster paints, I coat them with clear spray paint and glue some felt to the bottom so they can be used as paperweights). Today I showed him this fun little project that I remember from my childhood.
I guess everybody probably made these as kids, yes? Well, in case not, it's two sheets of waxed paper with leaves and crayon shavings in between them - you go over it with a warm iron to melt the crayon wax and seal the sheets together. I thought they turned out pretty cute, and Carlos had fun.

one more question - wax paper did you buy them at a craft store?
Carlos will be 3 next month. A lot of it has to be done by mom - I used a cheese grater to shred the crayons, which he couldn't do, and obviously the iron was all me. :-) But he had fun collecting the leaves in his little bucket, laying them out on the waxed paper, and handing me the crayons to use (and saying the colors). It's also a good way to use up all of their broken crayons.
It's just regular waxed paper that you can find at the grocery store near the aluminum foil and plastic cling wrap. :-)
