There's a chicken convention going on in my planter box...

...and I'm not happy about it. I'm ready to plant some vegetables in my raised planter bed, but the chickens keep digging holes in it. Anyone have suggestions? I tried sprinkling cayenne pepper on the soil but apparently my chickens don't mind a little spice in their dirt.

But you can't be mad about such a cute sight! We just got back from Kauai where the chickens run wild everywhere. Sasha loved it and learned how to make a rooster noise!

i'm sure this doesn't help, but they sure are cute in there! perhaps you could build another planter for them to lay in, although most likely they'd just use both.

I know, it is hard to be mad at such an adorable sight. They were really hunkered down in there, all snuggled together. We have a kiddie pool I was thinking of filling with dirt for them to dig in but I think I'll still have to rig something up to keep them out of the planter beds...

You probably need to put chicken wire over the tops of your planter boxes. And by all means give the nice chickens their very own box to fluff and play in; chickens love to have dust baths. (on another note entirely, I am flaunting the truly beautiful smokey quartz ring that arrived from you this afternoon. Wow.)

But your chickens look so cute all together in the box!
I would definitely recommend attaching chicken wire over the top. As the plants get bigger, though, I'm not sure. I would think they may be even more interested then.
